Oliver “Tex” W. Nelson, 93, died Saturday, September 15, 2007, in Crystal River, Florida. He leaves his wife, Phyllis H. (Langhill) Nelson of Crystal River; his children, Carolyn C. Stowe of Boylston, Raymond J. Nelson of Powhatan, VA, and Laurie J. Costello of Boylston; his sisters and brother, Ethel Nelson of Orleans, MA, Eunice Nelson of Millbury, MA, and Harold Gadde of Las Vegas, NV; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Colvin S. (MacNutt) Nelson; a son, Oliver W. Nelson, Jr.; and a brother, Howard Nelson.
He was born in Worcester, son of Oscar F. and Hannah E. (Borgland) Nelson. He was a salesman and designer for American Tool & Machine Co., retiring many years ago. Tex was a 65-yr member of Quinsigamond Lodge AF&AM and a 32nd degree Mason Scottish Rite Bodies. He was also a member of Aleppo Temple where he served on the Medical Unit. He was past Master of Boylston Grange 111, past treasurer of Boylston Lions Club, Deacon and past treasurer of First Congregational Church of Boylston. Tex was an EMT with the Boylston Fire Dept. for many years.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Congregational Church of Boylston, Ten Church Street, Saturday, Sept. 29, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private in Pine Grove Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
