Obituary

Henry H. Tedford, 80, formerly of 1 Elizabeth Drive, Pawcatuck, ascended into heaven on September 16th at the home of Richard and Tracy Tedford surrounded by loved ones.

He was the husband of the late Margaret L. Tedford and Charlotte E. Tedford and was the son of the late J. Edward Tedford and Edith Lego.

He is survived by his 9 children, Susan Hougensen, Larry Tedford, Henry Tedford Jr., Sandra Shetland, Mary Shifflett, Kenneth Tedford, Stephen Tedford, Douglas Tedford and stepchildren Herbert Young, Rose Mathis, and Rowena DeMary; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Caroline Tedford Kidder, Mary Tedford-Morindi, and Faith Tedford and two brothers Charles Tedford and James Tedford; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Otis Fisher and Jay Tedford, sister Ida Poiah, and stepsons Robert Young and Dennis Cross.

Mr. Tedford received the Korean Service Medal when he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed by Pfizer’s as a chemical operator for 36 years, retiring in 1988.
He was an avid card player and enjoyed shooting pool, being with his family and attending Monticello Wesleyan Church.

His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. A Graveside Funeral Service with military honors will be conducted at Elm Grove Cemetery, Rte. 27, Mystic, on Saturday at 10 a.m with the Rev. Jim Moretz, officiating. (Everyone should meet at cemetery at 9:45).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
