Bobby “Bobby Jack” Cofield, 56, of Tifton died Thursday, September 13, 2007, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Aaron Clanton and Rev. Carroll Allen will officiate. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta with burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Cemetery in Valdosta. Pete Cofield, Jerry Cofield, Larry Cofield, Ronnie Cofield, Bill Cofield and Dwight Ray will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends in Tifton immediately following the service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2007 and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2007, at Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta.
Mr. Cofield was born on August 26, 1951 in Lowndes County and was the son of J. B. Cofield, Sr. and Rudene Allen Cofield, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Denise Stewart. He worked in law enforcement and was owner of Sunny Car Sales. He was a United States Army veteran, a former police officer and a member of Corinth Freewill Baptist Church in Brookfield, where he was the song leader and teacher of the Teen Sunday School Class. He had lived in Tifton for four years from Lowndes County where he was born and raised.
Mr. Cofield is survived by his wife, Wanda Franks Cofield of Tifton; his mother-in-law, Maxine Franks of Tifton; one son, Lee R. Cooper of Rome; two daughters and one son-in-law, Stacey and Jeff Hall of Valdosta and Amanda Cofield of Maryland; two brothers and sisters-in-law, J. B. Cofield, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Judge Dewey Cofield and his wife, Joyce, of Valdosta; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Wilbur “Leo” Pelphrey of Valdosta; four brothers-in-law and their spouses, Lanny and Jan Franks of Tifton, Randy and Joyce Franks of Jesup, Ronny and Sherrie Franks of Cumming and Lenn and Lisa Franks of Rockford, Tennessee; one sister-in-law and her spouse, Diane Franks Pickens and her husband, Ronald, of Tifton; three granddaughters, Brittini Cooper of Rome, Taylor Hall of Valdosta and Heather Cooper of Rome; special long-time friends, Dwight and Sherry Ray of Valdosta; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; special cousins and other family and friends.
