Obituary

Stephen F. Theberge, 79, of Fairhaven died Sunday September 9, 2007 at Our Lady's Haven. He was the husband of Shirley L. (Daniels) Theberge; they were married for 57 years.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Omer and Lucinda (Sylvia) Theberge, he lived in Fairhaven for most of his life.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.
Mr. Theberge was formerly employed as a correctional officer at MCI-Bridgewater until his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. An avid fisherman and commercial quahogger, he often volunteered taking children from St. Mary's Home on fishing trips.
Many years ago, Mr. Theberge was a Little League Baseball manager. He was also a great lover of animals.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Debra Pacheco and her husband John, of Fairhaven; a son, Stephen F. Theberge, Jr. and his wife Lisa Rahn, of Astoria, OR; two sisters, Lucille Frey of Venice, FL, and Grace Frey of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Daniel and Sara Pacheco; and a great-granddaughter, Samantha B. Parker.
He was predeceased by his beloved grandson Richard B. Parker III, who passed away on Sept. 14, 2006. He also was the brother of the late George and Omer Theberge.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM in St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 6-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett.
