Obituary

MESERVE- Edward N. of Stoughton , 83 years, passed away on Thursday December 19,2002 at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton after a period of failing health.

He was the husband of Eleanor D. (Dean).

Born in Medford, MA, he was the son of the late Orville and Ada (Easter) Meserve. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Coast Guard. He held the position of Coxswain. He was a lifelong resident of Stoughton. He was formerly employed by the O.W. Meserve Printing Co. in Boston and the Stoughton Public School System,retiring in 1965. He was a 1937 graduate of Stoughton High School.

Ed and his wife celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 27,2002.He was past President of the Stoughton Historical Society.He was also a Curator at the Historical Society. He was a volunteer at the Adult Learning Center in Brockton,MA where he taught Reading.He was an avid column writer; he had a weekly column printed in the Stoughton Buzz newspaper. He was a Great Model Railroader.He also was a reader at the Stoughton Public Library where he converted books on tape.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James E. Meserve of Brockton,MA , Thomas J.Meserve of San Antonio,Texas and a sister, Winifred Dzus of Brockton,MA. He is also survived by two nephews,two grandchildren,two great-grandchildren and several cousins.

His funeral service will be held in the Sheehan Funeral Home 115 Monk Street (off Rt. 138 at the First Federal Savings Bank) on Monday December 23,2002 at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.

Visiting hours are in the funeral home on Sunday December 22,2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.
