Obituary

Martin T. Tormey, of South Hutchinson Island FL, previously of Newton Highlands died on Sept 9, 2007 surrounded by his family in their home in Newton. He was in his 94th year.
He was born in Gardner, MA and graduated from Gardner High School. He was the proprietor for over 40 years of the Newton Corner Esso and later Newtonville Exxon service stations. He enjoyed skiing, biking, golf and travel. He was also a longtime Red Sox fan.
Beloved husband for 68 years of the late Mary C. “Mae” (Mahoney) Tormey. He was the devoted father to Martin Jr. and his wife Mary Ann, Judith McDowell and her late husband Denis, Richard and his wife Jan all of Newton and Paul and his wife Pam of Wellesley. Loving brother of the late Eleanor Benham, and his late brothers; Dana, Donald and Leonard Tormey. Inspirational grandfather of Kevin Tormey of Needham, Karen Brown of New Canaan CT, Greg Tormey of Boston, Meredith McDowell of Boston, Diane Conuel of Ithaca NY, Joanna Larsen of Highlands Ranch CO, Jennie Tormey of Hoboken NJ, Beth Tormey of Boston and Rick Tormey of Brooklyn NY. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. His funeral will be from the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. NEWTON CORNER on Weds Sept 12 at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church Newton Centre at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be Tues from 4-7 PM. Parking lot adjacent to funeral home.
