Obituary

DUDLEY– Joan B. (Senckowski) Ziemba, 81, of Southbridge Road, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 5, in Saint Vincent Hospital after being stricken ill. Her husband, Edward A. Ziemba, died April 10.

She leaves a daughter, Mary Ellen “Mez” Ziemba of Wendell Depot, MA; a son, Mark E. A. Ziemba of Dudley; 2 grandsons, Jesse E. and Christopher J. Davis, both of Wendell, MA; 2 sisters, Madeline Gentile of Shrewsbury and Sr. Mary Thomas of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Teddy, Joe, Ray and Jimmy and by her sister Millie.

She was born on October 18, 1925 in Worcester, the youngest daughter of Peter and Victoria (Kowalewski) Senckowski and moved to Dudley when she married in 1948. She was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester.

Mrs. Ziemba worked in the payroll department of the American Optical Company in Southbridge. She was the bookkeeper and office manager at Bonnette Oil and then at Consumer’s Market, both in Southbridge. She retired in 1975 to become a full time homemaker.

She was a communicant of Saint Andrew Bobola Church. She was a member of the Saint Joseph Polish Women’s Club. She once served as the president of the Emblem Club #129 in Webster. Her middle name Bernadette, chosen at her Confirmation, was in honor of St. Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes.

She was a very supportive mom with a heart of gold. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandsons.

The funeral was private. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Andrew Bobola Church Renovation Fund, 54 West Main St., PO Box 98, Dudley, MA 01571-0098. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster.
