Salem: Robert B. ‘Da’ Eon, Sr. age 93 of Salem, died peacefully Friday, September 7, 2007 at the Peabody Glen Healthcare Center in Peabody following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Jeannette (Jalbert) Eon.
Born on July 16, 1914 in Salem, he was the son of the late Alphonse ‘Frank’ and Anna (Plourde) Eon. A life long resident of Salem, he worked as an assembler for the Atwood & Morrill Co. now Weir Valves on Canal St. in Salem. At the time of his retirement at age 65, he had been with the company for 38 years. Bob was an avid gardener who enjoyed working in the yard and playing with his 2 canine friends Ace and Diva.
He was a member of St. James Parish of Salem.
Bob is survived by 2 sons: Robert B. Eon, Jr. and his wife Norma of Salem, Roger R. Eon and his wife Dottie of Peabody. He was the loving grandfather of Linda Mann and her husband Bill of N. Andover, Susan Eon of Salem, R. Edward Eon of Florida, Michael Eon and his wife Denise of Peabody, Jennifer & Phil Noll of Pennsylvania, Jason & Jonathan Eon of Peabody. He is also survived by 2 sisters: Doris Cummings of Beverly, Joan Hartnett of New Hampshire, a brother, Roger Eon of Beverly, 6 great-grandchildren: Karly & Cassidy Mann, Cameron & Arielle Eon, Justin & Alyssa Bolin and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 sisters: Clementine Emery & Lucille Coles, 3 brothers: Rudolph, Henry & Gene Paul Eon.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 8 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem followed by his funeral mass in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem at 9 am. Visiting hours: Monday 5 to 8 pm. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
