Vassie Lynch Johnston, 84, of Tifton died Friday, September 7, 2007, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Smith Gentry will officiate with burial to follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 8, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Johnston was born on September 9, 1922 in Tifton and was the daughter of James H. Lunch and Sara Mag Jackson Lynch, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Roy Johnston, two brothers and three sisters. She was retired as manager of McCrory's in downtown Tifton and was a retired Wal-Mart greeter. She was a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church.
Ms. Johnston is survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.
