Obituary

Mrs. Eleanor Smith Tucker, 87, of Mt. Vernon, died Tuesday, September 4 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M., Thursday, September 6, at Smith Street Baptist Church in Vidalia, with Rev. Jimmy Smith, Rev. Joey Taylor and Pastor Paul Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at 4 P.M., in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends at 11:00, Thursday morning at the church.

Mrs. Tucker was born May 12, 1920 in Evans County before moving to Fitzgerald during her high school years and in 1956 moved to the Vidalia/Mt. Vernon area. She was a homemaker and after her retirement from Hazlehurst Mills was the morning hostess at McDonald’s for 15 years. Mrs. Tucker was a member of the Smith Street Baptist Church in Vidalia.

Mrs. Tucker is survived by a son, William H. “Billy” Tucker of Mt. Vernon; 2 grandsons, William and Matthew Daniel; several nieces, nephews and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claxton Waldo Tucker, and a daughter, Paula Tucker Daniel.
