Funeral Service in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 11:00am. Visitation 10:30 -11:00am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery.

Zara Elese (Thompson) Kidd, 88 years, died unexpectedly Saturday, September 1, 2007. Born and raised in Columbus, Mississippi, on August 24, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Augustus and Mary E. (McMullen) Thompson. She attended school in Columbus Mississippi.
She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized and joined Providence Missionary Baptist Church.
She married the late Jessie Kidd, Sr. in 1940 and they had eight children. Typical of mothers in that era, she was a fulltime homemaker and the primary participant in her children’s education and development of their work ethics. She was an avid reader throughout her life and encouraged her children to do the same. She had been a resident of Brockton for the past 25 years.
She is survived by her children Mary Davis of Beachwood, Ohio, Susie Kidd of East St. Louis, Lillie Kidd of Worcester, Tommy Kidd of East St. Louis and Jessie Kidd, Jr. of Columbus Mississippi, one brother Moses Summerville of Columbus, Mississippi, nine grandchildren Michael Kidd of Florida, Dr. Garietta Falls of Los Angeles, CA, Jeffery and Amanda Falls of Worcester, Angela Reed, Maurice and Cynthia Kidd all of Columbus Mississippi and Sherry and Kimberly Kidd both of East St. Louis, and five great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late James Kidd, Bennie Kidd and Sally Will.
