Clara Sue Mitchell Ashford, formerly of Water Valley, MS, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2007 in Roanoke, VA. She was born in Arkansas, was raised and graduated from High School in Water Valley. After graduation she attended business school and worked as a legal secretary. Mrs. Ashford was a member and an active participant in her Sunday School class at First Baptist Church of Roanoke.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 6, 2007 with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Surviving are her children, Paula Hutto of Jackson, MS, Dr. Bill Ashford of Roanoke, Va, Sally Cooper of Brandon, MS, Mitch Ashford of Pace, FL; brother, Ralph Mitchell of Pontotoc, MS; and a sister, Geri Cardwell of Water Valley, MS. Also surviving and ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a number of neices and nephews.
Mrs. Ashford was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Horace Everett Ashford and her parents, W. G. (Freck) and Ann Mitchell.
