Pauline J. Mangsen, 72
Worcester – Pauline J. (Nelson) Mangsen, 72, of Worcester, formerly of Holden, a longtime volunteer, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, at home.
Her husband of 42 years, Harry R. Mangsen, died in 1996. She leaves a son, Kurt J. Mangsen of Holden; two daughters, Christine J. Baker Griffin of New Braintree and Carolyn J. Peterson of Newburyport; and 10 grandchildren. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Verner W. and Beatrice H. (Olson) Nelson, and graduated from Colby Junior College in New Hampshire.
Mrs. Mangsen was a homemaker. In the early 1950s, she worked in the mortgage department of the Worcester County Institute for Savings. She also volunteered for the Lutheran Home, F.I.S.H. in Holden (an interfaith social service group) and All Faiths Cemetery. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and several of its organizations, including the church council and was a Stephen minister. She was a member of the Holden Women’s Club and the Holden Bell Ringers Group. She enjoyed music, playing the piano, oil painting, needlepoint, sewing, traveling, and genealogy.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, in Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster St. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Please omit flowers.
