Obituary


James J. Studley 83 died, Sunday September 2nd surrounded by his family, at his home, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 65 years to Elsie (Ferrari) Studley.

Jim was born in Brockton, he was the son of the late John B. and Sarah (Powers) Studley. He attended Brockton Schools

Jim has been a resident of Whitman since 1943 and known in Whitman as the Carlyle Club/Bowladrome owner/operator, also a retired Plymouth County Brockton Superior Court officer. He worked part time for the Pembroke Country Club and was an employee of the Blanchard Funeral Chapel as a dress man for many years.

He was a WWII Navy veteran, who served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters, on the U.S.S Card, as Boatswain’s mate second class.

He was an avid golfer.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, Elsie (Ferrari) Studley, he is survived by his children, Mark Studley of Indiana, Michael Studley of Bridgewater, Cheryl Studley of Whitman and Ann Welty of Missouri; his brothers, Richard Studley of Arizona and Hubert Studley of Illinois; also 8 grandchildren and 2.5 great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held Friday September 7th at 9:15 A. M. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Inc, Plymouth Street (Rt 58 at the Rotary Circle), Whitman, MA., followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 A.M. ,in the Holy Ghost Church ,Whitman, MA. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman, MA. Visiting hours Thursday September 6th 2-4 and 7-9 .Donation s may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society C/O Holy Ghost Church, Washington Street, Whitman, MA. 02382.
