NELSON, John E. of Winthrop, passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital on May 14, 2007. He was 88. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (Folan) Nelson. Born in Boston, He was the son of the late Joseph A. and Mary A. (Foley) Nelson. Devoted father of Sister Margaret R. Nelson S.N.D. of Quincy, Donna M. Larkin and her husband John of Quincy, John P. Nelson of Winthrop, and Mary E. Anastasio and her husband Vincent of Revere. Adored grandfather of John Vincent Anastasio. Funeral arrangements are from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, on Fri, May 18, at 9:15am. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church at 10am. Relatives and friends invited. Interment will be in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section). Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. U.S. Army Veteran of WWll. Visiting hours Thurs, (TODAY) only from. 5-9. John was a former employee for the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Dept, working at the former Deer Island House of Correction, and later went on and retired from the US Post Office working as a postal clerk.
