Sr. Beatrice Lapointe, CSC, (Sister Mary Lena), 92, of 357 Island Pond Rd., Manchester, died August 29, 2007, at her residence.
She was born in New Bedford, MA February 17, 1915 and was the daughter of Ambroise and Estelle (Laroche) Lapointe.
She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1932 and made her final profession in 1939. She served in the Congregation for 75 years.
Sister Beatrice earned a BA from Notre Dame College in Manchester, NH. She taught in elementary parochial schools in Manchester, Nashua, Newmarket, Rochester, Somersworth and West Franklin, NH; Adams, Attleboro and New Bedford, MA; St. Albans, VT and St. Laurent, Quebec. She spent a sabbatical year in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.
In December of 1993, Sr. Beatrice was named Prime Time’s Senior of the Month by Catholic Medical Center Networks. She retired to St. George Manor in Manchester, NH in 1991.
She leaves several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday September 1, 2007 in the chapel of St. George Manor. Burial was in St. Augustin Cemetery, Manchester.
