Obituary

WORCESTER___Albin A. “Al” Tamosiunas, 81, of Worcester, died Saturday August 25 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus. His wife, Eva (Tamkevicius) Tamosiunas died in 2002. His first wife, Josephine (Locwin) Tamosiunas died many years ago.

He leaves two step sons, Richard Laflamme of Colchester, CT., and John Perch of Worcester; five step grandchildren , several step great-grandchildren, cousins in the Worcester and Marlborough area and relatives in Lithuania. He was born in Marlborough, a son of Albin L. and Katherine (Statkus) Tamosiunas and lived in Worcester for most of his life.

Mr. Tamosiunas was a music teacher of instrumental music 44 years for the City of Worcester Public Schools. He also taught for the Music Education Service in many towns. He retired in 1991 but continued to teach part time in Walpole, Spencer and in Vermont until 2003.

Mr. Tamosiunas was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and his Master of Arts degree from Worcester State College. He was a member of St.Casimir Church.

The funeral will be held on Saturday September 1 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence Street. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday August 31 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Casimir Church Building Fund, 41 Providence Street, Worcester, Ma., 01604.
