Charlena “Chicky” Noreika

SOMERVILLE - Charlena “Chicky” (Russis) Noreika, age 91, died Monday morning, August 27,
at Massachusetts General Hospital, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late John
Noreika, who died in 1988.
She was born in Boston, on April 7, 1916, the daughter of the late William and Philomena
(Jakowski) Russis. She was raised in North Woburn, but had lived in Tewksbury the greater part
of her life. She retired to Somerville in 1993, where she had lived with her daughter and son-in-
law. As a resident of Tewksbury, she was a communicant of St. William’s Church. She was also
recalled by her family as having enjoyed many outings at Suffolk Downs horse racing and
Wonderland greyhound racing tracks.
She is survived two daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn Rubino and her husband Donald of
Hudson, FL, formerly of Tewksbury, and Lorraine Wood and her husband Albert, with whom she
resided in Somerville; a brother Joseph Russis of North Woburn; seven grandchildren, Linda
Harte of Tewksbury, Donald J. Rubino of Alton Bay, NH, John Rubino of Attelboro, Charles
Rubino of Litchfield, NH, Michelle Bisbee of Billerica, Craig Wood of Melrose, Charlene Wood
of Somerville; seven great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday, Aug. 30, in ST. William’s Church,
Tewksbury. Burial followed at Tewksbury Cemetery.
