Silas Ethridge, 69, of Tifton died Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2005, at Waterloo Baptist Church. Rev. Jerry Ethridge will officiate with burial to follow in Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery. Ray Griffin, Glenn Griffin, Allen Owens, Paul McCormick, Ray Powell and Jacob McCormick will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 27, 2005, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Ethridge was born on October 10, 1936 in Irwin County and was the son of Dack Ethridge and Lillie Mae Day Ethridge, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Amos Basil Ethridge and Johnny Ethridge; and two sisters, Lucile Jefferson and Viola Lucas. He was a member of Waterloo Baptist Church and was owner of a construction business.
Mr. Ethridge is survived by his fiancee and lifelong companion, Virginia Cannon of Tifton; four sons, Dack Ethridge of Carrollton, Chevy Tyrone Ethridge of Tifton, Byron Ethridge of Tifton and Darren Ethridge of Tifton; one daughter, Nita Ethridge of Parrott; one brother, Travis W. "Red" Ethridge of Bowden; 14 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
