Esther Pauline Day MacDonald, 75, of Tifton died Saturday, November 26, 2005, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2005, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Michael Marchant will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Lupo, Louie Radney, Jason Radney, Lamar Poole, Raymond Jones and Gary Hyde. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Georgia Automobile Racing Hall of Fame Association. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 26, 2005, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. MacDonald was born on January 22, 1930 in Cornish, Maine and was the daughter of Carl Day and Evelyn Gray Day, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Phil Day and Dwight Day. She was a retired school teacher of 35 years for Tift County schools and a charter member of the Georgia Automobile Racing Hall of Fame Association as well as a dedicated race fan of Eddie MacDonald, Sr. and Eddie MacDonald, Jr. She was also a Nascar scorekeeper and had lived in Georgia for 50 years from Maine.
Ms. MacDonald is survived by her husband, Eddie MacDonald, Sr. of Tifton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie Jr. and Louise MacDonald of Fitzgerald, Mike and Rhonda MacDonald of Fitzgerald and Gerald and Rhonda MacDonald of Tifton; one brother, Basil Day of Maine; two sisters, Geneva Jordan of Maine and Rita Towzier of Maine; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
