Joseph F. Azevedo, 73, of Norton died on Tuesday August 21, 2007 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I. He was the companion of the late Diane Gordon and was the former husband of Evelyn (Audette) Juckniewitz of Margate, Florida.
Born in Madeira Island on February 9, 1934 he was a dear son of the late Manuel and Jesuina (DeJesus) Azevedo.
He came to the United States at the age of 12 and settled with his family in Norton. He was educated in both Madeira Island and Norton schools. Mr. Azevedo faithfully worked as a machinist for the past 54 years at the Sinclair Manufacturing Co. in the Chartley section of Norton.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, he especially enjoyed times spent with his family, NASCAR of which he was a big fan. His favorite hobby was working with tools and his hands. He enjoyed the art of small engine repair. Mr. Azevedo had made his home in Norton for the past 61 years.
He is also survived by his devoted daughter Joyce M. Tilson and her husband Ronny of Margate, Florida. He was the dear brother of Mary Norberto of Norton and Edward Azevedo of Brooksville, Florida. He was the grandfather of Michael Ruby and Jessica Ruby both of Margate, Florida. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and his late companions grandson Joshua Gordon.
Services and burial will be private. Visiting hours have been omitted.
