Obituary

John Alashaian, 71, of Franklin, died unexpectedly at his home, Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007.
Born in Franklin, a son of the late Senekerim and Anna (Ourfalian) Alashaian, he was raised and educated in Franklin, and was a lifelong town resident.
Disabled since birth, Mr. Alashaian was a well-known town resident. He could be seen every day sitting outside his home on Beaver Street at the intersection of Rte. 140, where he would wave to all who passed by, and would often engage in long conversations with everyone.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and often assisted with various fundraisers. He was a member of the Franklin Senior Citizens and the American Association of Retired Persons.
He leaves a cousin, Avedis Alashaian and his wife, Rosemary, of Leonia, N.J.; his longtime care givers, James and Lynn Marchand of Franklin; and many neighbors, friends and church parishioners.
He was the brother of the late Sam Alashaian.
The funeral will be held Friday, Aug. 24, at 10:15 a.m., from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home (franklinfuneral.com), with a funeral service in St. John's Episcopal Church, 237 Pleasant St., officiated by the Rev. John Potter, rector.
Burial will follow in Union Street Cemetery.
