Obituary

Elsie D. Tenney, 92, of Chester, NH died August 20, 2007 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. She was born in Breman, ME on April 6, 1915, a daughter of the late Fred and Alda (Girrior) Genthner. A graduate of Haverhill (MA) High School, class of 1935, she has resided in Chester since 1948. Mrs. Tenney previously lived in Norwalk, CT for nine years, while employed by the Hat Corporation of America as a hat maker. She had operated a chicken farm in Chester for over 24 years and also cared for unwed mothers, troubled youth and German foreign exchange students. Elsie was a former member of the Chester Lioness Club and the Chester Rod & Gun Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon T. Watt of Sandown, NH and Gail Violette of Derry, NH; a son William Tenney of Chester; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 5 great, great grandchildren; and also by several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Eugene F. Tenney in 1994, a son David E. Tenney earlier this year and a grandson, Jason S. Violette on August 12, 2007.

Calling hours were held on Thursday, August 23rd from 6 to 8 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. The funeral service was held on Friday at 1:30 PM in the funeral home, with burial following in Great Hill Cemetery, Chester.
