Obituary

Paul Arruda, 58, of New Bedford died August 20, 2007 at home after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He was the husband of Maureen P. (Foley) Arruda.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph and Eva (Coutu) Arruda, he lived in New Bedford all of his life. He was a 1967 graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School.
Mr. Arruda was formerly employed by Endeco in Marion for several years.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed cooking, music, yardwork, gardening and the outdoors.
Mr. Arruda served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the National Defense Medal and Rifle Marksman Badge.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Paul J. Arruda, and his fiancée Bethany Kirby, of New Bedford; 2 daughters, Maureen Cote, and her husband Matthew J. Cote, of Dartmouth and Kelly Arruda of New Bedford; a brother, Jeffrey Arruda of Fall River; a sister, Janice H. Costa of New Bedford; a grandson, Ryan M. Cote; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Joseph Arruda and Carol E. Hardy.
His Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 24th at 11:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. His family will receive guests on Friday from 10 AM to 11:30 AM prior to his service. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
