Obituary

Charles Ray Taylor, 83, of Tifton died Saturday, December 10, 2005, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Jerry Lillard and Rev. Mike Toluba will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill McCranie, Buck McCranie, Paul Fulwood IV, Charlie Taylor, Buddy Taylor and David Keith. Members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class of the First United Methodist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 12, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Taylor was born on November 2, 1922 in Tift County and was the son of James Wiley Taylor and Sarah Kathryn Gibbs Taylor, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tifton and past president of the Fellowship Sunday School Class there. He served as a Tift County Commissioner for 18 years.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Sylvia Crew Taylor of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Fen Taylor of Albany and Joe and Sandy Kent of Auburndale, Florida; two daughters and one son-in-law, Janet Fulwood of Atlanta and Carol and Tom Thurber of Schuylerville, New York; one sister and brother-in-law, Teenie and Perry McCranie of Brookfield; and seven grandchildren, P. T. Fulwood, Pam Barker, Patricia Fulwood, Charlie Taylor, Allison Thurber, Abigail Thurber and Kelli Kent.
