VanDALINDA, John J. of Winthrop, passed away at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home on June 12, 2007. He was 92. He was the beloved husband of Catherine R. (Holtz) VanDalinda. Born in Winthrop, He was the son of the late William H. Sr. and Ellen T. (Ryan) VanDalinda. Devoted father of Regina Doucette and her husband Henry of Peabody. Brother of Walter A. VanDalinda of Winthrop, and the late William H. Jr., Edward G., and Ruth M. VanDalinda. Adored grandfather of Andrea M. Doucette. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP. A Funeral Mass was held in St John the Evangelist Church, on Sat. June 16, 2007, at 11:30am. Interment was in Winthrop Cemetery. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran-WWll, Retired LT. of the Winthrop Police Dept. with over 40 years of service, Life Member-Winthrop Yacht Club, Winthrop Lodge of Elks#1078, Knights of Columbus #162, AMVETS-Winthrop Post#48, American Legion-Winthrop Post#146, Winthrop V.F.W. Post #460, and the D.A.V. John was active with the Boy Scouts for many years, and served on the Winthrop Board of Selectmen.
