Obituary

LOWELL—Edward J. Thomas, 62 years old, longtime resident of Lowell, died unexpectedly, Wednesday December 11th, at Saints Memorial Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Mary R. Carpenter, who died in 1990.

He was born in Boston, on May 10, 1940, a son of the late Seth and Alice (Powers) Thomas, and was educated in the Boston Public Schools and went to technical college in Boston.

Mr. Thomas had been employed as a Draftsman by the American Surveying Company, of Waltham for the past five years and previously had worked for TAMS, in Boston.

Surviving him are a five children: Lisa Marie and Edward McArdle, of Putnam, CT; Allan M. Thomas, of St. Augustine, FL; Christine A. Fiquet, of St. Augustine, FL; Tracie A. and Diego Ortiz, of Boston; and Karen J. Thomas, of Townsend; four grandchildren: Shaun, Christopher and Timothy McArdle, and Anna Marie Ortiz; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Richard and Diane Thomas, of Plantation, FL; and Harvey Thomas, of Sunrise, FL; also several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 PM on Sunday, December 15th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). His Funeral Mass to be offered Monday, December 16th, at 10:30 AM at ST. JOSEPH’S LITHUANIAN CHURCH, Lowell. Private Burial at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the animal shelter of your choice.
