E. Bridgewater - Mary A. (Farrell) O‘Donoghue, 94, of East Bridgewater, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was the wife of the late John E. O‘Donoghue.
Born and raised in Whitman, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (Darcy) Farrell.
Mrs. O‘Donoghue was employed by the Bell Telephone Company as an operator and retired after 34 years, in 1975. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in South Weymouth for most of her life and was a member of the Ladies Sodality and the Massachusetts Catholic Women’s Guild.
Mrs. O‘Donoghue enjoyed gardening, bowling, line dancing and cheering the Red Sox. She also liked traveling out of state to many ball parks with her close co-workers after retirement.
She enjoyed being involved in the lives of her grandchildren, cheering them on during their sport competitions and received great pleasure in all their accomplishments.
She was the wife of the late John E.; mother of Mary C. Primiano and her husband John of East Bridgewater, J. Michael O’Donoghue and his wife Kathleen of Athens, Greece, and Edward P. O’Donoghue and his wife Margaret of Simpsonville, SC; sister to the late Katherine Sherman, Helen Gelinas and John Farrell; grandmother of Michael, Alexsandra, Bridget, Carrie, Peter, Meghan and the late Colin; great-grandmother of 4. Also survived by her God daughter, Karen McKenzie of Plymouth and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Wales-Prophett Funeral Home, 35 Spring St., East Bridgewater, Monday at 9:15 am. Funeral Mass in Holy Ghost Church, Whitman, at 10 am. Visiting hours Sunday 5-8 pm. Burial in St. James Cemetery, Whitman.
