Obituary

LOWELL - Sophie (Krysiak) Kaye, 85, formerly Sophie (Krysiak) Kwiatkowski, died at home on Friday, August 3rd. She was the loving wife of the late Michael Kaye who died in 1972.

She was born on July 15, 1922 in Clinton, a daughter of the late Stanley and the late Mary Anne (Sakowski) Krysiak and graduated from Lowell High School.

Mrs. Kaye was employed by the Hathaway Shirt Company where she worked as an inspector. Most recently she worked at the Massachusetts Welfare Department and was a union representative, until retiring in 1984.

She was an active member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity, where she was also a member of the Holy Trinity Seniors in Lowell. Mrs. Kaye was a past president and a past secretary of the PAV in Lowell. She was a past president of the PTA at the St. Stanislaus School in Lowell.

In her free time she enjoyed the beach, playing bingo, going to Foxwoods, sewing, knitting, crochetting and making pierogi with the PAV. She loved cooking, baking and entertaining and spending time with her family. Mrs. Kaye enjoyed much traveling in her retirement.

She is survived by three sons, Robert M. Kaye and his wife Barbara of Lowell, Kenneth A. Kaye and his wife Lisa of Lowell, and David M. Kaye of Hudson, NH; her daughter, Pamela A. Kaye of North Billerica; her sister, Bernice Goldsmith and her husband Joseph of Hull; eight grandchildren, Robert C. Vacca, Michael J. Kaye, Ryan M. Kaye, Tanya L. Quinlan, David M. Kaye II, Nathan A. Kaye, Kathleen A. Kaye and Jonathan L. Kaye; five great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Kaye was also the mother of the late Philip M. Kaye and the sister of the late Walter, Stanley, Edward Krysiak.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT on Tuesday, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Her funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:00 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in the Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity in Lowell. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Lowell. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
