Salem: Jeannette ‘Jean’ (LaBonte) Nowlan age 89 of Salem, died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the Pilgrim Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in Peabody, following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Aldric W. Nowlan.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Jules and Emily (Ross) LaBonte. As a young woman she once worked for the former Pequot Mills of Salem. Most of her middle years were devoted to her family. In the early 1970’s she began working for Parker Brothers and retired from that company in 1984.
Jean was a family centered woman who cherished time spent with her daughter, son-in-law, their children and later the great-grandchildren. She loved cooking traditional dishes as well as some of the ‘old’ style French dishes for both family and friends. Her recreational passion was for card playing and for shopping. Jean was also a member of Ste. Anne Parish of Salem for many years.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol T. Corriveau and her husband John of Salem, a brother, Richard LaBonte and his wife Renee of Chelsea, 2 grandchildren: Jason Corriveau and his wife Kristen of New Ipswich, NH, and Lisa Algarin and her husband Luis of Florence, VT. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren: Beth-el, Matthias, Silencia & Mahalia Algarin, Tyler, Joel & Jacob Corriveau as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 8 brothers: Philip, Armand, Jules, Peter, Arthur, Ernest, Albert & Raymond LaBonte.
