ANDOVER: Eleanor (Beal) (Glennon) Kakles, age 94, a resident of Andover, formerly a longtime resident of Somerville, died Monday, July 30, 2007 at the Wingate at Andover.
She was the wife of the late Christopher C. Kakles and William Glennon.
Born in North East Harbor, Maine on May 9, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Nahum and Margaret E. (Barron) Beal.
Mrs. Kakles was raised in Somerville and attended Somerville schools.
She resided in Somerville until recently moving to Andover.
In earlier years, Mrs. Kakles was employed as an elevator operator by the former Filene’s Department Store in Boston. In addition, she previously worked for the former R.H. White Department Store in Boston.
Following her marriage to Mr. Glennon, she dedicated her life to caring for her family.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society of Tewksbury.
She is survived by two daughters, Virginia F. Desmond and her husband Richard of Tewksbury and Helen Carroll and her husband Larry of Billerica; two sons, Stephen E. Massie and his wife Theresa of the Phillipines and John Glennon of Tewksbury; also many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Shirley M. Moulton, Carol A. Desmond and Richard E. Glennon.
Calling hours Thursday, August 2nd, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral service Friday, August 3rd, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment to follow at the Massachusetts V.A. National Cemetery, Bourne at 2 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Tewksbury Senior Center, c/o the Building Fund, 460 East St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 or to the American Lung Assoc., 460 Totten Pond Rd., # 400, Waltham, MA 02451 are suggested.
