Walter J. Yourich, 87, of Framingham, MA, formerly of Harrisburg, PA and Potomac, MD, died July 26, 2007 in Natick, MA. He was the beloved husband of Jane A. (Rossi) Yourich for 64 years.
Mr. Yourich was born in Monarch, PA and was the son of the late John and Helen (Koste) Yourich. He traveled around the world as a Missile Engineer for the Department of Defense and retired after 33 years of service at age 55. Walt was a life long athlete. He combined his love of children and sports by refereeing over 10,000 baseball, football and soccer games in a career that spanned over half a century, eventually retiring at age 82. An avid self taught golfer, he won the All Navy Championship in Washington D.C. in 1969.
He was the devoted father of Kathy Y. Egan and her husband Timothy of Wellesley, MA. He was the loving "ompa" of Brian, Jacqueline and Caroline Egan all of Wellesley, MA. He was the brother of Kay Keupp of Queens, NY, Josephine Grenaldo of Connellsville, PA, Theresa Weil of South Hampton, NY, Margaret Krizner of Monarch, PA, Pauline Zaffina of Mt. Pleasant, PA and the late Steven and John Yourich and Mary Garey. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial funeral mass will be held in St. Paul’s Church, 502 Washington St., Wellesley, MA, on Saturday, August 4, at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
