Funeral services were held on July 26, 2007 for Mrs. Frances (Karp) Yellowitz of Revere. Mrs. Yellowitz entered into eternal rest on July 24, 2007 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home from complications as a result of a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 87 years old & the wife of Jacob “John” Yellowitz of Revere.
Born in Boston, the daughter of the late Israel & Jennie (Howe) Karp, Mrs. Yellowitz was raised in the West End of Boston & Dorchester. She attended the Boston Public Schools & graduated from the first graduating class at the Jeremiah Burke High School in Boston. She went on to study & graduate from the Boston Business School. Mrs. Yellowitz was employed as the executive secretary for the Hood Philanthropic Foundation. She was a member of Temple B’Nai Israel of Beachmont & their Sisterhood, Hadassah, & served as a Campfire Girls leader. Mrs. Yellowitz was known for her excellence in cooking & her enjoyment of knitting, reading, & playing cards.
In addition to her beloved husband, Mrs. Yellowitz is survived by 2 devoted daughters, Linda Ungerleider & her husband Stanley & Dr. Janet Yellowitz; 2 loving grandchildren, Hal Ungerleider & Susan Fletcher; & her adored great-granddaughter, Magnolia Ungerleider.
Graveside funeral services were held on Thursday, July 26, 2007 in the Sudilkov Cemetery, Everett. Memorial observance was held at the home of Linda & Stanley Ungerleider. Donations in Mrs. Yellowitz’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, MA Chapter, 311 Arsenal St. Watertown, MA 02472. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Torf Funeral Service of Chelsea.
