Obituary

WORCESTER__ Zbigniew Korczynski, 87 of 7 Beckman Street, died Wednesday, July 18 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center. His wife of 57 years, Alina M. (Brzywczy) Korczynski died in 2004.

He leaves a son, Eugene Korczynski and his wife Linda of Holden and two granddaughters, Amy Ellrod and her husband Ryan of Manchester, NH., and Lori Korczynski of Holden; He was born in Blazowa, Poland, a son of Adam and Stefania (Kogot) Korczynski and later lived in Germany. He has lived in Worcester since 1949.

Mr. Korczynski was a foreman for PressMet Corp. for 35 years and retired in 1985. He was educated in Poland and attended college there. Zbigniew survived four concentration camps during World War II and was a member of the Polish underground.. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.

The funeral will be held on Saturday July 21 from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday, July 20 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, Ma., 02472.
