Ms. Aspasia “Esther” Ziakas, 93, passed away Wednesday July 11th surrounded by her family.
She was born April 22, 1914 in Lowell, Massachusetts the daughter of the late John and Frances(Daros) Ziakas.
A lifelong resident educated through the Lowell Schools, Esther worked for many years at the Laganas Shoe Company in Lowell as a supervisor up until her retirement.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell.
She is survived by her brother, Nicholas Ziakas of Lowell; three nieces, Esther Vavra and her husband Edward of Dracut, Frances Whalen and her husband Robert of Lowell, Lois McCabe and her husband William of Lowell; three nephews, Eli Sokorelis of Lowell, John Ziakas and his wife LuAnn of Texas, and Charles Ziakas and his wife Sue Ann of New Jersey; two godchildren, Chelsea Long of Texas and Christopher Vavra of Dracut; and also a special boy, Jack Donahue.
She was the sister to the late Timothy Ziakas and Aphrodite Sokorelis sister in law of the late Catherine Ziakas and Katherine Ziakas. .
Friends will be received at the M.R. LAURIN AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St. Lowell on Sunday from 1 pm. to 4 pm.. The funeral will take place on Monday at 9a.m. at the Funeral Home to be followed by services at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell at 10a.m. Interment to follow in Westlawn Cemetery.
