Edna Alpers, 80, of Medford, died Wednesday in the Brigham And Women's Hospital, Boston, after a long illness.
Born and raised in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Charles and the late Louise (Ardito) Kosta.
Mrs. Alpers was a graduate of Medford High School and went on to receive a business degree fro Boston University.
She worked many years at the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston where she was in charge of Telecommunications.
Retired for more than 10 years, Edna served as President of the Retiree Club of the Federal Reserve Bank.
In 1965 she was widowed when her husband Gordon died suddenly.
She is survived by her two daughters: Patricia Alpers of Medford and Susan Di Stefano of Watertown and a son, Gordon Alpers, Jr. of Charlottesville, VA.She leaves four granchildren: Danielle Di Stefano, Bobby Di Stefano, Jennifer Alpers, Gordon Alpers. She is also survived by 2 great granchildren.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 am in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford.
Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
Friends may visit Friday from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.
