Raphael C. “Ralph” Evangelista, Jr., 87 of Medford, died Tuesday at home.
Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Anna (Cienza) and Raffael C. Evangelista. He is a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School, class of 1938 and Northeastern University where he received a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He worked as a Mechanical Engineer for many years in the former Charlestown Navy Yard, and later at Stone & Webster Engineering. Late U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII.
Mr. Evangelista was a member of Medford VFW Post #1012, the Retired Men´s Club of Arlington and the Singing Grand Pops, former member of National Association of Retired Federal Employees-Reading, Member of Medford AARP and Association of Registered Professional Engineers. He was an avid Red Sox fan. In earlier years he played trumpet during festivals in Boston’s North End.
Beloved husband of Concetta (Battaglia) Evangelista. Devoted father of David Evangelista of Medford, Frances Chotkowski and her husband Paul of Mansfield, and the late Ralphy Evangelista. Loving grandfather of Andrew and James Chotkowski. Brother of the late Anna, Rose, Anthony, John and Joseph Evangelista.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Saturday at 10 am followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 11 am.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Visiting hours Friday 4 – 8.
Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
