Obituary

Hope Alice (Thulin) Johnson, 85, of Waltham, died peacefully in her sleep at the Radius Health Care Center in Plymouth on July 7th after a lengthy illness. Born on February 22, 1922 in Worcester, MA to the late Florence and Victor Thulin, she graduated from South High School in 1940. She worked at General Wholesale and Supply as well as H&R Block. In later years, she was employed as the Registrar of Voters in Waltham. Hope loved to sew and knit and enjoyed sharing her skills with her four daughters and granddaughters. Her grandchildren knew that there was always welcoming arms for them in Waltham and at her summer home in Manoomet. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Waltham, North Waltham Senior Citizens, Piety Corner Club, and Waltham's Woman's Club as well as Palestine Chapter of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Johnson of Waltham; Carla of Newark, DE and her husband J. Ritchie Garrison; and Gail of Manchester-by-the-Sea and her husband Remi J. Browne; her grandchildren, Mark Beaumont and his wife Pim of Lubbock, TX; Kristen of Oak Bluffs, MA and her husband Christopher Reimann; John M. Beaumont of Brunswick, ME; Eric A. Garrison and Nathan C. Garrison of Newark,DE; Rebecca Garrison of New York, NY; Christie and Benjamin Browne of Manchester-by-the-Sea; her three great granddaughters Ruby and Klara Reimann and Jade Beaumont; and her sister Ruth Kairis of Tallahassee, FL. She is also survived by four nephews and one niece. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Eric Alfred Johnson Jr., in 2001. Her daughter Ruth J. Beaumont and brothers Charles and Victor also predeceased her. A memorial service will he held at the First Baptist Church in Waltham on Saturday July 14th at 11:00 AM and will be officiated by her beloved son-in-law, Rev. Dr. S. Robert Beaumont, and Pastor Kenneth Wallace. The family will receive visitors following the memorial service. There will be a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Waltham, 396 Lexington St, Waltham, MA 02451 or to the Ruth Beaumont Memorial Scholarship c/o Penney Memorial United Baptist Church, 35 Grove St, Augusta, ME 04330.
