Phyllis C. MacDonald, 81, of 69 Cheney St. died December 3, 2002 in the Franklin Regional Hospital. She was born in Arlington, MA on March 17, 1921, the daughter of Leon and Josephine (Orlando) Nowlin.
Raised in Arlington, she resided in Waltham MA for many years. She was employed as a secretary for the Waltham School System for more than 15 years. Mrs. MacDonald was a summer resident of Winnisquam for many years.
She became a permanent resident of Winnisquam around 1979 and was employed at Fay’s Boatyard in Gilford for 17 years, until her retirement in 1998. She moved to Franklin to live with her son a couple of years ago.
Her husband, well-known cartoonist and caricaturist, Owen “Zonka” MacDonald died December 31, 1983.
Family members include a son, George O. MacDonald and his wife, Beth of Franklin; a daughter, Patricia A. Choquette and her husband Bill of Oneco, Florida; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Eleanor Peterson of Boxford MA, Louise Myers of Nashua NH, and Irene Guest of Weymouth, MA; many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St., Laconia on Friday from 7 to 9 PM. A funeral ceremony was held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11 AM. Following cremation, urn burial will be in Bayside Cemetery.Timothy C. Molan and David L. Furber are the funeral directors.
