Manuel I. Tavares, Jr. age 88 of 7 Hughes St., formerly of Plymouth Ave. Widower of Inez (Vieira) Tavares. Son of the late Manuel I. and Maria Da Conceicao (De Jesus) Tavares. Passed away at home July 10, 2007. Born in Madalena do Pico, Azores and a resident of Fall River since 1969. Before retiring, he was a Machine Operator for Hasbro. In Portugal he captained a cargo boat. He was a parishioner of St. Michael Church.
He is survived by 4 Children: Mario & Manuel Vieira, Linda Freitas all of Fall River & Maria Cabral of Bristol. 2 Sisters: Tomasia Sequera of Portugal & Maria of Azores. 11 Grandchildren,13 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild & several nieces & nephews. He was also father of the late Alda M. Correia and brother of the late Julio and Jose Tavares.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home,1521 N. Main St. Friday at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church, Essex St. at 10 AM. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 5-9 P.M. www.rogersfuneral.com.
