
GLOUCESTER: A. Dewey Poole, 76, died, Saturday, July 7, 2007 at his residence. He was the husband of Kathleen (MacLeod) Poole.
Born in Rockport on December 5, 1930, he was the son of the late Dwight and Selma (Peura) Poole. He attended Rockport public schools and resided in Rockport for many years before moving to Gloucester in 1957.
Dewey was employed as a machinist at the former Cape Ann Tool Company for thirty-seven years. He had also worked for several years at Sonolite in Gloucester. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting in Maine and New Hampshire. He also enjoyed weekends and vacationing at his cottage on Thompson Lake in Poland, Maine.
In addition to his wife of fifty-five years, he is survived by a brother-in-law, Edward and his wife, Isabelle MacLeod of Wenham and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by a sister, Betty Morse and a brother, Dwight D. Poole, Jr.
His funeral services will be held on Tuesday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 11 A.M. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 – 11 A.M. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923 or to the Independent Christian Church Unitarian-Universalist, 50 Middle St., Gloucester, MA 01930. Interment will be held in the Seaside Cemetery, Lanesville.
