Ruth J. (Sherry) Eldridge 81, died July 4th in the Sachem Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in East Bridgewater, after a period of failing health.
Born in Swansea, raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Alice (Gauvin) Sherry.
She was a graduate of Brockton High School and attended Brockton Business College for one year.
Ruth was very active at the Whitman Senior Center and meals on wheels program in Whitman, she enjoyed playing bingo and poker.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Davis, 2 granddaughters and six great-grandchildren, her close friend Mary Bates.
Her services will be held on Saturday July 7th at 6:00 P.M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street, (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date. Visiting hours will be on Saturday July 7th 3-7 PM. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1115 West Chestnut Street/ Suite 301, Brockton, Ma. 02301.
