Obituary

Hollis Richard Parker, 73, of Ty Ty died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at Carpenter Road Church of God. Rev. Ronnie Luke and Rev. Salone Green will officiate with burial to follow at Salem Memorial Gardens. Shane Fountain, Danny White, Norman Lewis, Roy Douglas, Phillip Rinehart and Justin Douglas will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Luther Walker, Silas Spradley, Bobby Kirkland, William Lasseter, Willis Dowdy and Jerome Houle. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 2, 2007, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Parker was born on January 29, 1934 in Mooreville, Mississippi and was the son of Dock Parker and Mary Linda Clause Parker, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dalt Parker and Clyde Parker; and three sisters, Will Allred, Vern Pluckett and Myrtle Webb. He was retired and a member of Carpenter Road Church of God.

Mr. Parker is survived by his wife, Myrtice Parker of Ty Ty; one son, Hollis R. “Bo” Parker, Jr. of Ty Ty; seven daughters and five sons-in-law, Cheryle Dickerson of Fulton, Mississippi, Lynn and David Rushing of Mooreville, Mississippi, Kim and Mike Curtis of Folsom, Louisiana, Pamela and Terry Scroggins of Frostproof, Florida, Linda Taylor of Gainesville, Florida, Debra and Marvin Lewis of Ty Ty, and Teresa and Jonathan Medders of Tifton; eleven grandchildren, Justin Dickerson of Fulton, Mississippi, Morgan Elizabeth Curtis of Folsom, Louisiana, Misty and James Kirk of Lake Wales, Florida, Mark and Tina Poe of Frostproof, Florida, Carlos Poe of Jasper, Tennessee, Marvin Lee Lewis of Ty Ty, Michael Lewis of Ty Ty, Alexxus Howell of Tifton, Ashley Rushing of Mooreville, Mississippi, and Wesley Rushing of Mooreville, Mississippi; and five great grandchildren, Bryan Holt of Tennessee, Sierra Poe of Lake Wales, Florida, Corinne Poe of Frostproof, Florida, Mark A. Poe, Jr. of Frostproof, Florida and Dakota Kirk of Lake Wales, Florida; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Evelyn Parker of Lakeland, Florida, Cliff and Opal Parker of Saltillo, Mississippi and Vick and Susie Parker of Mississippi.
