GEORGE E. ENGDAHL, JR. of Hingham, died on Saturday, June 30th at his home after a long illness. He was 58. Mr. Engdahl was born in Nahant and was raised and educated in Hingham where he has resided for most of his life. He was also a 1970 graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. He was a banking executive and served as president of the former Lincoln Trust Company of Hingham from 1985-1991. In recent years, he has been a financial consultant in the area. Mr. Engdahl was a member and former treasurer of the Hingham Yacht Club, was a board member of the Trustees of Reservations and served as a Eucharistic Minister for St. Mary's Parish in Hull.
He leaves his fiance, Denise Gilardone of Hingham; a son Eric Engdahl of Boston, a daughter Sarah Brennan and her husband Kevin of Brockton, and was the grandfather of Reese Brennan of Brockton. He was the son of Eileen (Meaney) Engdahl of Hingham and the late George E. Engdahl, Sr. He was the brother of Rick Engdahl of New York, Christine Tennihan and her husband Robert of West Bridgwater, Gary Engdahl and his wife Gwen of Weymouth, Jon Engdahl of San Francisco and Patty Leonard and her husband Robert of Greensboro, NC. Also survived by his former wife, Sheila (Mitchell) Engdahl of Hull and 10 nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 6th at 11 AM at St. Ann's Church, corner of Samoset Ave. and Lewis St. in Hull.
Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Thursday evening from 4-8 PM.

The interment is to be private.
