Obituary

Lillie Dee “Pepper” Norman, 82, of Tifton died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Maple Court. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Sam Rogers will officiate with entombment to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 2, 2007, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Ms. Norman was born on May 29, 1925 in Richland and was the daughter of Lee Andrew Brown and Mable Morgan Brown, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Mable and C. L. McMullen; and a brother, L. A. “Buddy” Brown. She met William John Batrus at McDill Air Force Base in Tampa during the war and they married on October 4, 1947.

Ms. Norman moved to Tifton in 1976 and met T. William “Bill” Norman, deceased, through her work with Hospice and they married in January of 1992. She worked as a student counselor at ABAC, which is where she met Lynn Layton. Ms. Norman was a volunteer and President of Hospice of Tiftarea and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tifton.

Ms. Norman is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Lynne Batrus-Lunetto and her husband, Franco Lunetto, of New York, New York; one “adopted” daughter, Lynn Layton of Jacksonville, Florida; Vickie McMullen and Frances Ayres (nieces/daughters of sister, Mable); Andrea Griffin, Darryl Brown and Lee Brown (children of brother, L. A. Brown); sisters-in-law, Virginia Zerhusen, Marion Heath and Louise Sumner; and step-children, Judy and Everette Ivey, Billie Norman; and step grandchild, Neil Norman.
