Obituary

Vital A. Velho, 89, died at home in Stoughton on Friday, June 22 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Filomena (Gonsalves) Velho. Born and educated in Flores, Azores, Portugal, Mr. Velho moved to Stoughton 35 years ago. He was a farmer for many years in Flores and worked at Cumberland Farms in Canton for 13 years before retiring at age 65. He was a member of Club Luis de Camoes in Stoughton and enjoyed playing cards and checkers.

Mr. Velho is survived by his children, Isabel G. Camara and Filomena G. Sackos both of Stoughton and Constantino G. Velho of Portugal, as well as his sisters, Elisa Silva of Portugal and Vitoria Gomes of CA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Jose M. Velho.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, June 25 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 2-5 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
