Obituary

MILLBURY___Marcel G. "Marty" Morin, 80, of 126 West Main St., died Wednesday Nov. 27 in his home.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Dorothy M. (Kennedy) Morin; a son, James M. Morin of Millbury; three daughters, Sharon M. Morin and Gail A. McArdle both of Millbury and Dorothy M. Walsh of Sutton; a brother, Adelard G. Morin, of North Oxford; two sisters, Theresa F. Lawson of Auburn and Rita E. Scott in New Jersey; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters, Raymond L. Morin; Raoul B. Morin; Roland C. Morin, Sr., Edmond B. Morin; Cecile C. Snow; Florence E. Lund; Beatrice A. Cerasuolo and Doris L. Therrien. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of Adelard P. and Corrine A. (Mousseau) Morin and had lived in Millbury 42 years.

Mr. Morin owned and operated the St. Charles Hotel in Millbury 42 years and was active in the business until the time of his death. Before then he worked several years for the former A & P Supermarkets.He was an Army veteran of World War II serving as a First Sergeant. HeLanded in Normandy on June 6 and fought and was wounded in the Battle of Lo. He recovered and later fought and was wounded in the Battle of Malo. He received two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars. He was an infantry rifle shooter expert. He was also an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Morin was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Dudley - Gendron Post American Legion, Sutton; Charles Minney Post VFW 3329, Millbury and the Auburn Lodge of Elks.He received the Millbury Lions Club as well as the District 33-A Lions Club Humanitarian Awards in 1995. He also received the Key to the City of Worcester in 1984.

The funeral will be held on Monday December 2 from Dirsa-Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 10 Waters St. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday December 1 from 1 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, 01701 or to the Massachusetts Veterans Shelter, 69 Grove St., Worcester, 01605.
