Obituary information
Stephen C. O’Brien, 63 years, died Monday at Youville Hospital in Cambridge after a lengthy illness. Born in Cambridge, son of the late Cornelius and Frances (Chicola) O’Brien. He was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Cambridge and Belknap College in Center Harbor, NH. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the US Army 9th Infantry Division and received the Bronze Star Medal for his outstanding service in combat. He had been employed by the US Postal Service for 33 years and retired from the Waltham Post Office as a Supervisor. Stephen enjoyed football games, was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association, was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in West Bridgewater and was a proud father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Patricia A. (Riordan) O’Brien, one son Matthew J. O’Brien and his wife Dina of Whitman; two grandchildren Nathaniel E. and Ava E. O’Brien, one sister Maureen Cummins of Belmont and several nieces and nephews.
