Arcie Studdard Townsend, 79, a life-long resident of Huntsville passed away Wednesday at home. Mrs. Townsend leaves to mourn her passing and to celebrate her life, her devoted husband, the Rev. John B. Townsend; her cherished children, Beverly Louise Townsend Hammonds, Linda Faye Townsend Courtney, Glenda Kaye Townsend Woods, John B. Townsend II, Dr. Thelma Marie Townsend, Clara Lynn Townsend Appleton, Diane Townsend and Anthony Dwight Townsend; daughtersin-law, Valerie Neal Townsend and Frances Pride Townsend; and a son-in-law, John Benjamin Woods; a precious sister, Margaret Pearson Dawkins; a devoted brother, James Pearson; her sisters-in-law, Laurine Daniel Townsend, Joyce Hughes Pearson and Margaret Townsend of Detroit; her step-son, Lorenzo Daniel Townsend; and a godson, the Rev. Mario Ford. Funeral services for Mrs. Townsend will be held at noon on Monday at Taylor's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church with Elders McKinley Jones and James Lane officiating respectively. Interment will be in Penny's Cemetery in Huntsville. A memorial service will be held Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Taylor's Chapel P. B. Church. The remains of Mrs. Townsend will be in the church one hour prior to funeral time.
