TEWKSBURY: Derek Bartlett Moats, age 55, a resident of Tewksbury for the past 6 years, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Saints Medical Center.
He was the husband of Mildred E. (Hedstrom) Moats, with whom he would have celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary on June 27th.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 31, 1951, he was the son of Benjamin F. Moats of Santa Fe, NM and Marjorie (Lehmann) Moats of Lebanon, NH.
Mr. Moats was raised in Wilton, CT and Concord, MA.
Mr. Moats attended the Fenn School of Concord, the Williston Northhampton School and was graduated from Tilton Prep of Tilton, NH.
He attended Shelby State College in Memphis, TN, where he received his business degree. In addition, he attended courses offered by the Harvard University Extension Program.
Mr. Moats was currently employed by the Market Basket Supermarket Corporation, where he worked for the past 7 years.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two brothers, Alan S. Moats and his wife Betsey of West Fairlee, VT and Kevin R. Moats of Atlanta, Georgia.
Calling hours Saturday, June 16th, from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, followed by his funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at the Tewksbury Congregational Church. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Derek B. Moats to the Tewksbury Congregational Church, East St., Tewksbury, MA 01876.
